A: All of our fertilizers are made from food grade ingredients and don’t include any animal body parts, animal waste or human waste (many organic fertilizers are made from animal and human waste as well as ground up animal body parts – But not ours!). To make a long answer longer, yes our fertilizers have an earthy odor, nothing strong, but they smell a lot better than the chemicals most of your neighbors use!

Q: I’ve heard that Organics take a long time to work – Is that true?

A: Yes and no. Our fertilizers may take a week or two longer to show greening than typical chemical fertilizers, but the effects will also last much longer. And you’re grass will grow at a healthier, more even pace, so you won’t have to mow twice a week! It is true that after about three years on an organic program your lawn will be much healthier than a chemically treated lawn. Our customers’ lawns have deeper roots and stay greener later into the summer than their chemically treated neighbors do, they are more resistant to insects and disease, so we don’t need apply chemicals to combat those problems – mother nature takes care of them for us! Q: Should I Collect the Clippings when I mow?

A: 90% of the time it is better to spread your clippings evenly over the lawn than it is to collect them. Leaving your clippings supplies the soil with organic matter, and the grass with nutrients. The clippings do NOT contribute to thatch accumulation. If you cut your lawn regularly and frequently the clippings will not smother the existing grass. If for some reason you have clumps of clippings that will smother the grass, it will be best to rake them up and compost them.
