Keep Bugs Out of Your House With a Natural Approach
Our Home Bug Barrier Program is designed to reduce the number of insects getting into your home by targeting potential entry points. Our approach includes the elimination of common breeding grounds where crawling insects like ants, spiders, and other pests commonly thrive. We apply natural, plant–based repellents, including Cedar Chips, Cedar Oil, Peppermint Oil, and Lemongrass Oil around the perimeter of your home.
Cedar contains compounds that have been shown to disrupt insect pheromones, acting as a deterrent to pests. Peppermint Oil, which contains menthol and menthone, has demonstrated effectiveness against spiders, ants, and flies due to its neurotoxic effects on certain invertebrates. Lemongrass Oil, rich in citronellal and geraniol, has documented repellent properties effective against many types of insects. These natural agents provide a safer, eco-friendly barrier while avoiding the use of synthetic chemicals.
Chemical insecticides can pose significant health and environmental risks, affecting not only targeted pests but also humans, pets, birds, and beneficial insects like bees. One widely used class of insecticides, synthetic pyrethroids, is often marketed as being derived from or comparable to the natural insecticidal compounds found in Chrysanthemum flowers, known as pyrethrins. However, this comparison is misleading. While natural pyrethrins break down rapidly in the environment and pose relatively low toxicity to humans and wildlife, synthetic pyrethroids are chemically engineered to be more stable and persistent—making them more toxic and environmentally disruptive.
